Luxury Location Guide: Nice

August 4th, 2014

It really is no wonder the second largest French city situated on the Mediterranean coast has four million tourists every year. We are of course talking about Nice la Belle (Nice the beautiful) situated on the southern eastern coast of the Mediterranean sea. The city is renown for being a real mixture of gritty city, traditional chic old town with impressive cultural offerings and of course year-round sunshine.

The huge amount of tourists is unsurprising as Nice has the largest hotel capacity in the country. Nice has a picturesque port, two airports and is only 4 hours from Paris by train, so there really is no excuse to explore this gorgeous city. Its accessibility and tropical climate is another reason so many choose to invest in property located here, whether that be traditional bijous villa’s or larger homes that are refurbished into boutique hotels.

The tourists that do visit Nice include high earning business people, locals looking for short breaks as well as international families looking to soak up some sun and culture. Many come to visit Terra Amata, one of the many world famous archaeological sites that this area hosts.

Some of the other delights you can be sure to see when you pop over to this French gem is the Promenade of the English along the beautiful Bay of the Angels as well as the pedestrian zone which has restaurants with every cuisine you could imagine, unique cafes and boutiques for those of you that fancy some shopping. If a peaceful walk to explore the city is more your idea of fun then be sure to visit the botanical gardens that are home to gorgeous tropical foliage that really blossoms due to the climate. The cathedral is another tourist sport worth checking out whilst on your trip.  Spend your evenings enjoying operatic or ballet performances in the breathtaking building built in 1885.

If you’re a sports fan the local team is OGC Nice so head there to watch a great game of football. If you love music but the Opera isn’t for you then maybe the Nice Jazz Festival or Carnaval de Nice will offer something a little more relaxed and free spirited. People flood to the city for these occasions, so ensure you book your accommodation (or sort your luxury property) in plenty of time.

Beware of the canon that is shot everyday at 12pm sharp and has been a regular occurrence here since 1860, originally intended to remind locals to have their lunch on time!

We have everything from a 19-bedroom villa nestled on the hillside of Nice-Gairaut to a 2-bedroom apartment in a 19th Century building that was once home to Queen Victoria.
