Cyprus government enjoys the strongest confidence level among EU members

The Government of Southern Cyprus enjoys the strongest confidence level among the 27 European Union countries states an EU survey.

“These results do not surprise me”, says Serge Cowan, Managing Director at Unique Living. “Cyprus is a beautiful country which has approached its augmentation and growth in a measured way. In particular, where property in Cyprus is concerned, it has not allowed urban growth to be such that it has spoilt the natural beauty of this remarkable island.

According to the “Spring 2008 Standard Euro barometer survey”, some 69% of Cypriots tend to trust the Government, and 69% the national Parliament, recording the most positive change since October 2007 when the respective percentage was 49%.

With reference to the EU Institutions, 63% of Cypriots (the 2nd highest trust level in the EU27), tend to trust the European Commission and 65% also tend to trust the European Parliament. There is an increase on the percentage of people who think that things are moving in the right direction in Cyprus. 50% (an increase of 28% since October 2007) of Cypriots believe that things are moving in the right direction in Cyprus.

In addition, the Government has taken a positive approach to appealing to the top end of the world’s property market and not just with Aphrodite Hills, which is beautiful and much loved, but the island needs and is going to get, a whole new cleverly orchestrated approach to development including the brand new Limassol Marina to be completed in about two years. With its luxury waterfront villas, many of which will be on a glamorous man made island, exemplary top spec apartments with sea views.  This major project, will attract discerning visitors, many by personal yacht, together with business people. Beachfront villas in Limassol Marina will be starting at approximately 4 million Euro.
 
The fact that the Cyprus property market is now appealing to the wealthy from Russia and FRS is also an indication of the changing face of the island and that the “tourist area” of Limassol is changing in favour of more chic bars and restaurants.

Cyprus’ historical strategic location at the Eastern end of the Mediterranean has many attractions, being accessible to both the Eastern and Western world. Golf, tennis, sailing, water sports, walking and archaeology in addition the island has excellent infrastructure, health system and are modernising their airports to top international standards  airports. We are experiencing radical changes in its appeal, attracting global investors. No wonder the survey was so positive!
