Best Cultural Activities in Cannes

Cannes is often associated with glamour and the luxury lifestyle, which is one of the reasons why so many people are attracted to visiting the area. If this is a part of the world that you enjoy spending time in and you are considering buying a holiday home or making a permanent move abroad, then this will naturally be a destination high on your list.

However, you shouldn’t only restrict your research to finding out more about the properties for sale in Cannes, you should also learn more about what there is to do in the area too. Doing so will ensure that you will have plenty of activities to entertain you when you are staying at villas in Cannes.

In order to give you some idea of the wide and varied things to see and do while you are here, we have put together some of the top attractions for people who are interested in culture. Let’s take a look.

Musee de la Mer

There are several sections to this museum. One part is a prison museum and another is devoted to Roman artefacts. At various points throughout the year there are temporary displays and art exhibitions for visitors to enjoy.

Eglise Notre Dame d’Esperance

Of all the churches in the area to visit, this is one of the best. The architecture is not the only thing to appreciate; there’s also the tranquil atmosphere and the amazing panoramic views over the harbour and the town. However, if you plan on heading to the church by foot, you should be prepared for a steep climb, as it is located at the top of the hill. Within the church, there are also a lot of steps, so be aware of this if one of your party has mobility issues.

Le Monastere Fortifie

Monks own St Honorat Island, just off the coast of Cannes, and here you will find Le Monastere Fortifie, an old fortress that is reached by a pleasant ferry trip. This is a great choice of activity for those interested in history and architecture. You can also access St Marguerite Isle from here and there are breathtaking views with The Alps offering the perfect backdrop.

Villa Domergue

There are three main reasons why you should visit the Villa Domergue. The first is the historical building, which is interesting to look around. The second is the stunning setting that includes beautiful Italian gardens. Finally, a visit here offers the opportunity to see some of the most spectacular views across the bay of Cannes.

Palais des Festivals et des Congres of Cannes

If your preference for cultural activities involves the theatre rather than simply historical attractions, then this is the place to visit. There is a varied schedule of performances throughout the year ranging from operas to ballets. Many festivals and events are also held at this venue.

During your search for luxury villas in Cannes, you will be able to enjoy these attractions plus many more. If you are interested in culture, you will be happy to learn that you’ll have plenty to interest you and keep you occupied while staying in your luxury villa.
